Workshop - Penny Wyse!
August 9th, 2008
This is where I put up new tunes in various stages of completion. These songs are being written for the next album. I’ve always kept a video diary of new tunes (I don’t do dots on lines). I find about half of my output is usually left unfinished, so here’s a way to give it all a little breath of life. I hope you enjoy these tunes and come back to join me through the entire recording process.

You Can Not Hop is now the God of Thunder. This will eventually go on the tentatively titled After World CD.
Go to Frank’s Myspace or Franks iLike page to give it a listen.
God of thunder
How can you fly without annoying the god of thunder
How can you float in an iron boat and not go under
Man alive, how can you drive along and see no blunder
What is the sense of fencing out your hope and wonder
What is the dream in mother nature blown asunder
Why would you scheme to take the world she nurtures from her
How can the drive thru survive by making mac rotunder
How can you undo what’s been undone and grown undoner
How can it be that a tree who breathes is only lumber
How do you rate if your dating for a chest to plunder
Love is to hope til every dopey head’s undundered
The mother of nature that used to inspire awe and wonder
Has taken a face full of fart by art I think we stunned her

Between the birds, the sun, and the little pixie popping out of the woods, I feel pretty good about this one!!! Even the words are partially there!

Walking Out of Step is the second finished tune for the tentatively titled After World CD. Until it is finished and released in the usual places, you can go to frank’s myspace or ilike page and hear the whole tune!!!
SAD NOTE: My 11 year old digital mixer seems to have breathed it’s last binary breath. I shipped it to Tascam, hoping they can fix it, or at least offer me a deal on something to replace it. Last time I looked, these things were crazy expensive. Please, wish me luck or spend a buck - - -

Julian (7) wrote these words. I found them under the table. As soon as I read them, I recognized the rhythm was perfect for Blue’s Stew. I have been struggling with the Stew for months, and happily finished the words, using Julie’s new inertia. Julian is not all that impressed with my efforts, and promises his own recording soon - - -

Blue’s Stew is the tenth and final track for World is Out the Window (unless I can finish Baby Bloop and the Wonder Wine before we finish the cover).
Go to Frank’s iLike or myspace pages to hear the whole tune!!!

Sad Old Squiggy has now become Luna’s Love. Luna is the first finished track for the album after World is Out the Window, which currently has the working title After World. Rather than simply give the mp3 away, I will offer it as a single on SNOCAP. I plan to release all the songs from After World as singles on SNOCAP. When the album is completed, I will release it on CD, iTunes and the other usual places.

The Story of Luna:
I took this picture last autumn. It is a Buckeye Butterfly. Because the Buckeye has lovely moons on its back, I assumed it to be a Luna Moth (a particularly stupid assumption). Waxing malinformed, I wrote lyrics about a moth ready to mate with her love, the moon (as is the usual fashion). Instead, she mistakenly falls in love with a low class billboard lightbulb. The results are tragic.
I was horrified when I finally discovered my moth/butterfly error - the mistake could have ruined weeks of work. Frantic, I looked up my lovely Luna in the field guide. Expecting the worst, I found the true Luna was MORE lovely than the Buckeye, and still had the little moons on her back that are necessary for the song to make sense - I am so damn lucky!!!
I’m still using the incorrect buckeye photo for the cover, cuz somehow it looks right to me - and more importantly, I’ve not taken a Luna photo - - yet!
Go to Frank’s iLike or myspace pages to hear the whole tune.
